With fall upon us, shots like this should be a little less common. The problem arises when bright sunlight from outside fools the camera into thinking the whole room is really bright, and therefore underexposes the picture. Turning on some lights in the room, shooting with your back to the brightest windows, or using a good external flash would also help. This shot is also too tight, it makes the room look tiny – a wide angle lens would help.
