It was announced this week that the District of Sooke will allow backyard burning of yard waste and debris on any fall and winter day on which the air quality allows. The District of Sooke plans to enact a method by which residents can verify if burning is allowed. This is in response to last year’s policy of one weekend per month which basically turned the town into an incinerator for the whole weekend, as everyone was burning at the same time.
