Sooke Real Estate Statistics – November and December 2012 – Year End Wrap

I guess December got away from me – as it turns out I was quite busy during the last half of the month with two separate buyers, and of course that little holiday and all the associated eating and drinking that goes along with it! I actually compiled all the November stats early in DecemberContinue reading “Sooke Real Estate Statistics – November and December 2012 – Year End Wrap”

Sooke Real Estate Statistics – October 2012

Were buyers spooked in October? Maybe. Overall across Greater Victoria, it was not a great month for real estate sales outside the core municipalities. Outlying areas, especially the West Shore experienced serious declines in sales, including Sooke, which saw roughly 33% decline in overall number of homes sold of all types, and 28% fewer singleContinue reading “Sooke Real Estate Statistics – October 2012”

Sooke Real Estate Statistics – September 2012

September 2012 brought with it some great, dry weather, and also a bit more activity in the Sooke housing market than both August 2012, and September of last year. Prices remain fairly stable year-over-year. While it’s not booming, there was a noticeable uptick in activity and 50% more single family dwelling sales than last month.Continue reading “Sooke Real Estate Statistics – September 2012”

Sooke Disposal Garbage Drop-Off Is Closing

While everyone in Sooke has been arguing about the proposed new carwash and laundromat (which I think is a great idea, by the way), something much more serious is going on with a long-time local business. The Sooke Disposal drop-off yard, located between Edward Milne School and Fred Milne park is closing. As of SeptemberContinue reading “Sooke Disposal Garbage Drop-Off Is Closing”

Sooke Real Estate Statistics – August 2012

Nice weather – but slow for real estate sales. I hope everyone enjoyed the wonderfully hot and dry August weather here in Sooke and Victoria. Busiest June in 3 Years For Sooke Real Estate – June 2012 Statistics and Half-Yearly Review

I’ve lived in coastal British Columbia my whole life, and June is a fickle beast indeed. It’s often cool and wet, and this year – well – this year was something else altogether. The weather people crunched the numbers and apparently it was the third-least-sunniest June since 1969. We also got about 33% more rainContinue reading “Busiest June in 3 Years For Sooke Real Estate – June 2012 Statistics and Half-Yearly Review”

Mixed Results In May for Sooke Real Estate – Statistics for May, 2012

May 2012 had mixed results for real estate sales in the Sooke area. While it was quite a bit busier than April, we are still a little behind in terms of sales volume compared to last year. I definitely noticed buyer activity picking up, with plenty of showings, but they did seem to trail off toward theContinue reading “Mixed Results In May for Sooke Real Estate – Statistics for May, 2012”

Sooke Real Estate Statistics – April 2012

April just flew by, and here we are in the second week of May already and I’m just getting to the stats from last month. It’s pretty slow out there, and if you’re looking to buy, there are definitely deals to be had. If you go by the average and median prices, it would appearContinue reading “Sooke Real Estate Statistics – April 2012”

Sooke Real Estate Statistics – March 2012

March brought us a teachers’ strike and a 2-week Spring Break here in the Sooke School District. I’m not sure if that slowed down market activity but March 2012 was certainly a good bit behind last month and the same month last year in terms of number of sales and the dollar value of thoseContinue reading “Sooke Real Estate Statistics – March 2012”
